Francis Ford Coppola Winery Expands “Diamond Collection” Portfolio
Two New Offerings Set to Tap Americans’ Growing Thirst for Refreshing White Wines
GEYSERVILLE, Calif., April 15, 2025 – Francis Ford Coppola Winery announced today the expansion of its flagship Diamond Collection brand with the launch of two new white wines: “Shimmer”, a crisp, unoaked blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio, and a low-calorie Sauvignon Blanc in its “Vibrance” light wine collection. Rooted in Sonoma County, California, Coppola Diamond Collection sells more than a million cases annually and ranks among the U.S.’s top five super-premium wine brands*.
“Shimmer” Cuvée Embraced by Retailers Nationwide
Labeled as a Sauvignon Blanc-Pinot Grigio, Diamond Collection’s new “Shimmer” blend is crafted in a bright, refreshing style, offering vibrant citrus and tropical notes. The wine began appearing on retail shelves five weeks ago and has already shipped half of its projected annual case sales. “Demand for Shimmer has been strong out of the gate from both independent retailers and national chain stores,” noted Mary Wachowicz, marketing director at Delicato Family Wines, which owns Francis Ford Coppola Winery.
“Diamond Collection’s Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon Blanc portfolio grew more than 26% in dollar sales last year*, and the two varietals make a highly delicious blend,” noted Wachowicz. “Consumers love Diamond Collection wines and are thirsty for zesty, unoaked whites; we expect Shimmer to be a hit with wine drinkers across the country,” Wachowicz continued.
“Vibrance” Sauvignon Blanc Builds on Light Wine Momentum
Diamond Collection’s second new wine, “Vibrance” Sauvignon Blanc, is the second light wine in the Diamond Collection portfolio and follows the successful launch of “Vibrance” Pinot Grigio last year. Low in calories, carbohydrates and alcohol1, “Vibrance” Sauvignon Blanc delivers the brand’s trusted quality in a wine that fits consumers’ demand for wines that fit a health-conscious lifestyle.
The light wine category grew 6% last year to reach $233 million in sales, according to Circana*. “Sauvignon Blanc dominates the super-premium light wine category, representing more than half its sales*, and we anticipate that the combination of the trusted Coppola brand, together with consumer lifestyle trends and a category-leading varietal, will make Diamond Collection Vibrance Sauvignon Blanc very attractive to consumers,” she continued.
Crafted from grapes picked earlier so that the wine is naturally lower in alcohol, the wine is fermented using traditional methods. A portion of the blend then has its alcohol gently lowered through use of a spinning cone. In the glass, fragrant citrus and green apple aromas lead to a zesty palate defined by lemon and pineapple flavors and a clean, minerally finish.
Diamond Collection “Shimmer’s” blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio and “Vibrance” Sauvignon Blanc carry a California appellation and are rolling out nationwide now on retailer shelves. They are line-priced with the existing Diamond Collection white wine varietals at a suggested retail price of $15.
