Francis Ford Coppola Introduces Wines Made from 100% Organic Grapes to the Gia Coppola Wine Collection
The latest evolution of the gia coppola wine brand features two new California reds from Paso Robles
[Geyserville, CA, September 19, 2024] Francis Ford Coppola Winery, the award-winning Sonoma County-based brand, unveils the latest iteration of the gia coppola wine portfolio with two new wines—a Red Blend featuring classic Paso Robles grape varieties like Zinfandel and Syrah, and an earthy Cabernet Sauvignon. Building upon Francis Ford Coppola Winery’s sustainability efforts, as well as Gia Coppola’s personal vision, both wines are crafted from 100% organic grapes, sourced from CCOF (California Certified Organic Farmers) certified vineyards in Paso Robles.
First launched in 2018 with her grandfather Francis Ford Coppola, Gia created the brand to showcase styles of wine that are light, playful, accessible and made for the next generation of wine drinkers. The newest releases capture that spirit with photos from Gia’s personal collection gracing the labels, while also celebrating how she now enjoys interacting with wine—gathered with friends and family around a dinner table or decompressing after a long day with an elegant glass of red.
“Wines, just like humans, are in a constant state of evolution. Now that I’m balancing the roles of being a new mom, a filmmaker and a photographer, this wine brand has grown up with me,” says Gia. “These new wines are crafted to be very food-friendly, making them perfect for leisurely dinner parties or a simple weekday meal. There’s also a touch of refinement with the Red Blend and Cabernet Sauvignon that makes you want to slow down, relax and savor the moment. They’re luxurious wines, but made without pretension.”
These minimal-intervention wines are also sourced from a new region for the gia coppola line—California’s Paso Robles, a central coast region famous for its Zinfandel and long recognized for its innovation and experimentation with organic winemaking. The grapes are sourced from CCOF-certified vineyards in the Templeton Gap and Estrella districts, which are managed with healthy soil practices, such as composting, cover-cropping and encouraging biodiversity, as well as no synthetic pesticides, herbicides, fungicides or chemical fertilizers.
- 2022 gia coppola Paso Robles Red Blend features primarily Zinfandel, Petite Sirah and Syrah, alongside some Tannat, with aromas of plum, vanilla and fresh blueberries. The tannins are soft with mouth-watering acidity and showcases flavors of fresh raspberries, anise and a smattering of white pepper. Gia likes to say it’s “more feisty” compared to the Cabernet Sauvignon, and recommends pairing it with tomato-based pasta dishes, roasted vegetables (bell peppers, eggplant and squash) or chocolate-covered strawberries.
- 2022 gia coppola Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon expresses the bold and ripe fruit you’d expect out of this region, with aromas of black cherry, vanilla and fresh blueberries. The tannins are smooth, with a long, elegant finish and offers flavors of ripe raspberries and sweet oak. Gia enjoys pairing it with grilled or roasted red meats, like steak and lamb to balance out the bolder tannins, as well as grilled portobello mushrooms, stuffed peppers and dark chocolate.
All gia coppola wines are available nationally and can be purchased online or at the Francis Ford Coppola Winery for $45 or $36 for wine club members.
