Bota Box Breeze, America's Number One Light Wine Brand, Expands Portfolio

New 500ml Tetra-Pak Varietals and a 3-Liter Premium Cabernet Sauvignon Launch This Month

Manteca, Calif., December 13, 2023 – Delicato Family Wines announced today the introduction of new offerings in the Bota Box Breeze line of premium light wines in alternative packaging: The brand’s popular Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon Blanc will now be available in a “Mini” 500ml Tetra-Pak® format, and a Cabernet Sauvignon joins the fast-growing brand’s 3-liter varietal options. All three wines will launch later this month, in time to stock shelves for January’s seasonal boom in the light wine category.

Bota Box Breeze has skyrocketed to the top of the U.S. light wine category since its launch in 2021, reaching its present position as the U.S.’s leading light wine brand, as measured in value and volume, in September.1 Its growth has continued to climb at a remarkable clip even as a plethora of new entrants have joined the “better for you” category: Bota Box Breeze sales are up 36% in the last year, helping to drive the growth of the light wine category as a whole—which is up 30% in the same period.2

“Americans are thirsty for great-tasting, premium light wines, and Bota Box Breeze has tapped that need with the right product in the right format at the right time,” commented Andrew Blok, marketing director for the Bota Box portfolio. “Our Bota Box Breeze “Minis” provide a convenient, grab-and-go light wine option, and the new Bota Box Breeze Cabernet Sauvignon provides a premium Cab that delivers on flavor while fitting well into an active lifestyle,” Blok continued.

Bota Box Breeze “Minis”: A hot format in a hot category
As the first small-format offering in the Bota Box Breeze portfolio, the 500ml Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon Blanc “Minis” expand on the success of Bota Box’s “Mini” 500ml Tetra-Pak® format, which are well-established in the 500ml category. Bota Box “Minis” have achieved sustained growth since their launch in 2012 and are the fastest-growing brand in the 500ml wine category over the past year.3

The choice of varietals reflects their popularity: Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio together claim nearly half (48%) of the dollar share of the light wine category4. Bota Box Breeze “Minis” will be available on retail shelves nationwide beginning January, 2024 and are line-priced with the existing Bota Box “Mini” wines at a suggested retail price of $5.99. Both wines are made in a light, refreshing style. The Bota Box Breeze “Mini” Pinot Grigio offers aromas and flavors of fresh citrus and ripe peach and a bright, clean finish. The zesty Bota Box Breeze “Mini” Sauvignon Blanc bursts with vibrant notes of melon and lime that harmonize on a crisp, citrus-inflected finish. Each five-ounce serving of the wines contains fewer than 3.5 grams of carbohydrates and 85 calories and has an alcohol level of 8 percent5. The wines are also low in sugar and gluten-free.

Cabernet Sauvignon Joins the Bota Box Breeze Portfolio
The new Bota Box Breeze Cabernet Sauvignon joins Bota Box Breeze Pinot Grigio, Dry Rosé, Sauvignon Blanc, Red Wine Blend and the recently launched Chardonnay in the brand’s premium 3-liter portfolio. “Consumers are showing more interest in light Cabernets, which are growing at 15 percent over the last year,6” noted Blok.

“We learned a long time ago that the premium box wine consumer knows quality, which is exactly what we see as our advantage in the light Cabernet Sauvignon space,” continued Blok.

Bota Box Breeze Cabernet Sauvignon will be available on retail shelves beginning in January, 2024, at a suggested retail price of $22.99. Bota Box Breeze Cabernet Sauvignon is crafted in a lush but light style, with exuberant flavors of toasted nutmeg and ripe blackberries that resolve on a smooth, oak-meets-vanilla finish. Each five-ounce serving contains 3.5 grams of carbohydrates, 80 calories and has an alcohol level of 8.5 percent7. The wine is also low in sugar and gluten-free. Each 3-liter carton contains the equivalent of four 750-ml bottles of wine.

The U.S. retail trade have responded enthusiastically to the new Bota Box Breeze offerings, with national retailers such as Target, Meijer and Albertsons/Safeway placing orders for all three wines.
