Blake Bomben Winemaker
Blake Bomben is involved in white and blush wine production and quality control at Delicato Family Vineyards.
Born in Kitchener, Ontario Canada, Bomben was raised in Brentwood, a small agricultural community just 25 miles from Manteca, California. He entered the University of California, Davis in 1988 as a Chemistry major but changed his major to Fermentation Science after discovering the delights of home brewing and working a crush at R.H. Phillips Winery near Esparto, California.
Bomben worked briefly for Genentech Inc., in South San Francisco where he was involved in the manufacture of two drugs produced by fermentation. Eventually, his passion for brewing led him to become Brewmaster for El Dorado Brewing Company, a small brewpub located in Stockton, California.
Bomben then worked for various brewpubs around the United States honing his skills as he brewed different types of beer. In 2000, he became Winemaker at Gnekow Family Winery, where he worked for two year before joining Delicato Family Vineyards for harvest 2002.
Bomben still enjoys making beer and wines at home in his garage with equipment he and his friends have designed and built.
