Cheryl Indelicato

Cheryl Indelicato's life reflects a joyful meeting of her California home and Italian heritage. As part of one of California's oldest winemaking families, Cheryl has been in the wine industry since she was a little girl, doing odd jobs at the winery and in the vineyards with her siblings and cousins. Today, that group of hard working kids represents the current leadership of Delicato Family Vineyards: the third generation of the family owned and operated vineyards and wineries. 

Although Cheryl grew up working at the winery, her parents insisted that all of "Generation Three" graduate from college and gather outside experience by working elsewhere for at least three years before coming back to the family business. Taking this sage advice, she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business in 1989 from California State University, Stanislaus and a Registered Nursing degree in 1985. 

It did not take long for Cheryl to return to the winery. Launching her official career in 1990, she worked in various facets of the business; from human resources to sales and marketing. Yet, all the while, she dreamed of creating her own wine brand. "I grew up in a winemaking family and have always wanted to create my own wine with a style and flavor profile that appealed directly to women," says Cheryl. "As time passed, the constraints of work and family grew. But I never gave up on the idea that one day I would accomplish this goal. My son is at an age now where I have the time to take this on."

Cheryl began the project, called HandCraft Artisan Collection, in early 2010 when she teamed up with veteran winemaker, Alicia Ysais, to develop a wine that would be fruit forward, distinct and easy to enjoy - similar to the field wine blends that Cheryl recalls from her family's dinner table. Cheryl also sought to create wines that pair well with food, as cooking and entertaining are two of her greatest passions.

When Cheryl is not working with Alicia or out on the road promoting HandCraft, she enjoys spending time in kitchen with her husband and son in Monterey, California. In addition, Cheryl serves as the Monterey representative to the California Wine Institute, is a member of Les Dames d'Escoffier and is a past President (2009, 2010) and past board member of the Monterey County Vintners and Growers Association.
